About Teton Images
I bought my first film camera while earning a degree in Fine Arts in Painting from Central State University (now the University of Central Oklahoma). That old Minolta SRT 102 got plenty of use taking photos for subject matter for my watercolor and oil paintings. Over the years following graduation, I migrated towards graphic arts. As typesetters and hot wax paste-ups were replaced with computers, scanners and printers, I made the same natural transition into computer graphics. When digital cameras finally became capable of capturing, high resolution, high quality images, everything seemed to "click". Adjusting and manipulating digital images was a natural fit.
After quite a few years of capturing standard photos of the area scenery and wildlife, my backgrond in painting and graphics started pulling at my creative skills. Eventually, regular photo captures started feeling more like "just photos" until I have a chance to pour the additional emotion and flavor into the images in post production. A creative need is fulfilled. And, when compared side by side, most viewers pick the artistic and stylized version over the straight photo.
Last year, I shot around 120,000 images. Needless to say, I have plenty of subject matter and inspiration around me.
Many images on this site have been artistically modified after the original capture on my digital cameras. Painterly effects are added on some. Textures are added on others, and a variety of darkroom style techniques are carefully blended into a final image that is so much more than just a photo.
