Gallery 12 Horizontals: Critters

Coyotes, Squirrels, Beavers, Otters, Marmots, Rabbits, Skunks, Racoons, Ermine, etc.

The smaller mammals never seem to get as much attention as their larger counterparts in Yellowstone and most parts of the country. Still, they offer some fun and rewarding photography. Normally, you don't even see these little creatures unless you are still for a while, often times waiting for a moose to stand up or a bear to start feeding again.

Marmots and picas can sometimes be found basking in the sun. Coyotes are more visible and are often mistaken for wolves. Beaver change their surroundings by cutting trees and building dams. Other critters scamper around in the underbrush, eating shoots of new growth or scavenge for anything left by tourists.
