Gallery 7: Bighorns and Mountain Goats

Verticals
Bighorn sheep and mountain goats move effortlessly on steep slopes and through the deep snow. Found grazing on grass shoots on south facing and windblown slopes, they are not terribly scared of humans. The brakes or loud noise of a speeding truck will send them back up the mountainside, but will occasionally graze relatively close to the roadside.
It is difficult to tell a billy goat from a nanny goat. Obviously, a nanny with a kid is a dead give away. Billy goats are more prone to be loners and slightly away from the larger herd.
